xo CCMonaiCC: Tell me a little bit about “Pieces Jewelry” and where it originated?
PJ: "Pieces Jewelry originated in the concept and firm belief that an accessory can make all the difference to an outfit. The business stands to supply “Pieces” of jewelry that prove this mantra and confirm it. I will be honest; I wasn’t big on jewelry for a long time until the past year or so. It wasn’t until I really matured in my style that I noticed how different one item: a necklace, a bracelet, a ring, could make on an outfit. Accessories can be just as much as conversation starters if not more interaction as the shoes you wear or the $200 jeans you put on. I love how a necklace can transform an ensemble and I want to provide elements that speak to that".
CC: Top five accessories a woman MUST have for the summer?
1. A statement necklace. Something that says, “I’m here” and you won’t be ignored, like our “Anastasia” crystal bib. That’s a piece I love because of how noticeable it is.
2. An everyday metal, like our “Ana” spear-headed choker. I can wear that with anything; day or night. We also have a thicker choker, “Ella” that serves the same purpose.
3. Midi rings. Do not underestimate the power of a midi ring. They say “trendy but classic”. That’s a timeless piece no matter what season. Our “Alex” midi ring set comes with 9.
4. A bright, colorful piece. I mean, that is what summer time is for. Our “Nicole” tie-knot necklace comes in neon yellow, neon pink, and mint green which are perfect compliments to any summer attire.
5. Cuffs. Cuffs are easy to stack with other bracelets or perfect on their own. Cuffs like our “Jasmin” really make a simple outfit, striking.
CC: How important are accessories in completing a wardrobe look?
PJ: "Mandatory. Vital. I want to stress how pertinent the right piece of jewelry can be. Our motto: “Integral parts essential to complete the sum of the look” means without the accessories; something is missing. We want to be the puzzle piece that completes the whole; that ties everything together and produces a finished ensemble".
CC: Do you prefer bold statement pieces or simple girly necklaces?
PJ: "I think the best part of style is that if you’re comfortable in who you are and how you look; you’ll never have to choose. The best part of accessories is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to swing from either spectrum. If you feel like being girly, go for it and if you’re feeling fierce; do that. Go with how you feel and work from there. I love both".
CC: Not everyone can pull off a bold statement necklace, how can someone achieve this look without overdoing it?
PJ: "Everyone and anyone can pull off a bold statement necklace, but I do agree not with every outfit. I was up for the challenge this past weekend when I put on my Anastasia necklace. I wore a strapless, black bodycon dress and without Anastasia, I could have looked so basic. Anastasia added something special and if you can’t tell, it might be one of my favorites from the Impact 45 collection. The best advice I can give is not to think too deep into it. Balance out a bold accessory with a classic outfit and you’ll never go wrong".
CC: What type of pieces can people expect from your company this
summer/fall? And what price points can people expect?
PJ: "We just launched 3 collections this month that I feel were comprised of items conducive for both this season and, that transition well into the next. I do plan to restock on a few items in Plated Standards and add a little more to the Chromatic Chic. Colors seemed very popular so when I go into purchasing; I’m keeping colors and textures in mind. People can expect more rings and definitely more stackable bracelets. Those did very well. Our price points are mid-range and go from $14-$45. I am conscious of prices and weary of putting items at rates too high for the consumer. For right now, we are at a good comfort level and I’m proud to say that I have something for every budget".
CC: Lastly, The Prevailing Effect is someone who has prevailed and overcame many obstacles in life to get where they are today. Do you consider yourself a “Prevailing Effect”?
PJ: "Absolutely. I do consider myself a Prevailing Effect. In this endeavor particularly I can say I've overcome personal doubt, fear, and uncertainty. It was a step of faith to bring Pieces Jewelry to life and to do something like this on my own. Starting a business is hard work. You open yourself up to a lot of vulnerability and criticism when you put yourself out there on the line to appeal to other people. I worried about how others would receive the brand, whether they'd like it or not, whether anyone would buy anything, whether anyone would go visit the website etc. It took me believing in myself and in my passion for this to just to do it. I've been so grateful to my family and friends for their encouragement and to people I don't even know for their support. It feels good to be a Prevailing Effect. To be where I am right now and not letting my doubts overcome my dreams. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be featured".
