Hi readers and bloggers. Happy Wednesday!
I have an amazing Wardrobe Wednesday interview for you all! I sat down with Ms. Remah, a natural born fashion stylist in Cleveland, Ohio. When you are done reading this interview, you HAVE to follow her on Instagram because of her creativity & how real she is! Remah is a 24-year-old stylish trendsetter from Brooklyn, NY, whom Timberland Boot Company recently named a “Tastemaker”. Sit back, relax, sip some wine because it’s “Wine down Wednesdays”. Enjoy my loves!
xo CCMonaiCC: Hi Remah! What does style and fashion mean to you?
Remah: “Style and fashion are completely different. Fashion is defined by seasons and trends; it's constantly changing. Style is innate. It is not influenced by trends, celebrities, seasons, etc. Style is an outward expression of my inner self. It speaks volumes, without me having to say a word. Most people are fashionable, very few are stylish.”
CC: How would you describe your personal
Remah: “My style is an ill mix of street wear and runway. That being said, I mix a lot of high and low designers. I mix it up, so one could never guess what I will be wearing tomorrow.”
CC: I see that you love all kinds of shoes, what inspires you when selecting shoes to add to your collection?
Remah: “In reference to style, Rick Owens was once quoted, "Hair and shoes say it all. Everything in between is forgivable as long as you keep it simple." My footwork elevates my style. It's all in the hair and kicks. I stick to essentials when adding shoes to my collection. I love boots. I've built the illest collection this season! I was fortunate enough to be named a "Tastemaker" in Cleveland by Timberland Boot Company just this past December. It's a hefty title, but I'm honored.”
CC: Top 5 clothing brands or designers?
Remah: “Hmmm, top 5...”
1) Rick Owens
2) Knomadik by Daniel Patrick
3) Alexander Wang
4) House of Nines
5) Drifter clothing
CC: Top 5 shoe choices, currently?
1) Common Projects
4) Jordan 1's
5) Nike trainers and racers
CC: How important are accessories to you?
Remah: “Accessories are everything. It completes the outfit. I cannot stress enough how important accessories are to every outfit. I typically wear 10+ rings and tons of bracelets at a time. Style is all in the details.”
CC: This “leather” trend can either be a hit or miss. What advice do you have for someone trying to pull off this trend?
Remah: “It's a trend don't do it. Never, ever, follow trends!”
CC: (Laughs!) Describe the inspiration behind the blue En Noir pants outfit?
Remah: “Again, I mixed high and low. I wanted to mix technical sportswear with high end fashion, so I threw together a 3.1 Phillip Lim motocross jacket with blue En Noir sweatpants, then freaked it with a Nike 3M pullover with some fly Rick Owens x Adidas trainer shoes. Illest.”
CC: Lastly, The Prevailing Effect is someone who has prevailed and overcame many obstacles in life to get where they are today. Do you consider yourself a “Prevailing Effect”?
Remah: “How can I not? Just a few years ago, I was practically unknown in this city. It's not easy getting your name out there and having your work and style recognized. The only way to succeed is being able to stand out. Fuck blending in, just be different!”
